Making great progress. Only three Rhino-chassis and one Land Speeder left and I am done with the vehicles! The former are almost done as is, while the Speeder has a long way to go. The Terminators are underway and about halfway done, thus far. Scouts are about 75% or better, leaving me a Sternguard Squad, a few Tactical Squads, and some Character to work on. Not too shabby! On a side note, I have started the Dark Eldar! They are absolutely as beautiful as I expected. So far, I have assembled about half a dozen skimmers. Eager to paint them, as the chosen scheme of "the Ragged Wound" gives me a chance to do some fun airbrush work.

So, the Mars-Pattern Warhound Titan is really taking shape - in that its almost done! The final trial will be setting the arms with magnets. The issue I see is that the connection cables will really make this difficult. Might try to find a way to use a thick, flexible metal tube with a magnet on the end to allow it to be flexible, versus the resin tubes. Anyhow, that will be wrapped up next week - hopefully! On the Ultramarines front, the army is taking shape rather quickly now that its on the table. Vehicles are first up - going to knock them out this week coming. The Forge World decals really will give them some awesome life! Hopefully, when these get a little further along and I have a bit more room to work, I will have the Dark Eldar and Blood Angels on the table soon. Right now, they are in the early stages of assembly and cleaning. Also, I am going to have some personal projects lined up - namely some Warmachine / Hordes models for a local league. Still debating on just what though, but I have until next month to figure it out. Pictures have been added to the New Gallery - so take a look!
Current Agenda: Mars-Pattern Warhound Titan - Assembly Ultramarines 2nd Company - Painting Blood Angels 2nd Company - Assembly, Painting Dark Eldar Ragged Wound Warband - Assembly, Painting So, lots to do! Expect some shots of the Ultramarines in the near future. I have had a Facebook page for ever, but just remembered to post it up here. Added a "Like" button to the front page, too.
Grimdark Painting Facebook Page Finally had a chance to update the workbench and gallery. Deathwing are done and will be in the mail tomorrow. Tomb Kings will be started next week, as I am moving to a new location and need to wait to get my new workstation set up. Also, in progress are six Killa Kans, a Deff Dread, and a Mega Dread (not pictured). Those are for my LGS owner and should be underway after the move as well. Well, I posted up a new section so I can off-load any models I pick up for various purposes that I don't plan to use for anything. The Ent was done up specifically because I wanted to paint the model and mess with the kit, but now that it is gathering dust, I am going to sell it.
On an aside, I tied for first for the Tanksgiving painting competition with my Ulthwé Vyper, which is also for sale now too. It was a good practice run for Object Source Lighting (OSL), a technique I am trying to learn. Also, it gave me a chance to break out and try something new. As I never paint them, it was a learning experience. Anyhow, going to start up a website in the near future that will be a dedicated gaming blog, podcast (ideally), and home to video battle reports for 40K, Fantasy, and Firestorm Armada. On a final note, I am going to be running a sale all through December to mark Grimdark's 1-Year Anniversary! This website was put up about a week after I started up officially with a Facebook page, but it has been a year already! It has been tough on me, as I do all the work myself and work full-time, but I as I said in prior posts, I am adding some contractors for 2011, to help with the work load. Anyhow, keep an eye out for the announcement on Dakka Dakka and Heresy Online, as well as here, for the Anniversary promo. Shipping them out Monday, working on a Salamander Land Raider. Hopefully, monday I pick up a Squiggoth and Gargantuan Squiggoth to paint for my local gaming shop owner. Also, I talked with the shop manager yesterday and I am hoping he orders the Fortified Manor House for Fantasy terrain, as I volunteered to paint it for the shop (as I often to, so we have quality terrain!). Looking forward to it.
Also, I updated the Gallery entirely. Sadly, I lost a ton of pictures because I forgot to save some before I tossed the originals. Silly me. Nevertheless, all I am really missing are the new Space Wolves, which I will get better shots of tomorrow, which isn't actually a big deal. Otherwise, I split it into older stuff and newer stuff. Just finished up a Tactical Squad of Marino Marines, with the remainder 80% or so finished. Going to try to get some group shots up before I ship them off. Some new shots in the gallery, including some Space Wolves. Excuse the blur, my camera isn't up to snuff just yet. Also, I put up a higher quality shot of my Space Marine Statue from the recent Honored Imperium box. I will try to get some shots of the Aquila and rubble later this week.
I have some Salamanders I will be working on, now that Tim is back and ready to go from Adepticon. Combined with that, expect to see a lot of work-in-progress shots of a regular and gargantuan Squiggoth! I just got it confirmed, for the most part, and should be underway with them very soon. One final topic for this week - anyone and everyone looking to get a commission and has no qualms about surrendering creative control to me, I am willing to give a large discount to those folks. If you are interested, let me know. Finished the Venerable Dreadnought - pictures to come this weekend. The guys at my shop have dubbed them the "Marino Marines", due to the blue/orange colors. Rather hilarious, I think.
Got most of the Marines based-coated, just a matter of getting them into the detail stage. Hopefully, life will be easier now that I am moved, settled, healthy, and able to get stuff painted again. On a side note, I did a quick paint-up of the "Honoured Imperium" kit from Games Workshop as a nice centerpiece for the upcoming 'Ard Boyz tournament. |
